Depois de, no primeiro filme, Alvin, Simon e Theodore (vozes de Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler e Jesse McCartney) conseguirem escapar de um produtor mal-intencionado e se tornarem nos esquilos mais famosos da pop, os três ficam a cargo de Toby (Zachary Levi), o sobrinho adolescente de Dave Seville (Jason Lee), seu guardião e amigo.
