Devido a uma campanhas dos fãs, a série recebeu uma terceira temporada, porém a NBC mudou o dia de exibição para o "horário da morte" de sexta-feira, 22:00. Star Trek foi cancelada ao final de sua terceira temporada depois de 79 episódios.
